The Night Shoot

With apologies to Edward Bulwer-Lytton.
It was a dark and stormy night; the rain was driven by violent gusts through the almost deserted streets (for it is in Brockville that our scene lies), rattling the shop windows and setting on edge the nerves of even the most intrepid photographer. They arrived at the appointed place in their ones and twos until they were nine souls all told. 'Though the rain had let up, still they hesitated, until some mention was made of a local establishment where after their labours might be procured food and drink of no mean quality. They spread out through the streets in pursuit of their Art. They were eyed warily by the few townspeople scurrying by (mindful perhaps of the Asylum to the east of the town). It is not yet known how successful were they in their photographic endeavours yet it is said their pursuit of sustenance and good conversation met with no little success.

Blogs, Facebook and Gender

Came across this post  on We have no idea if more females use FB and more males use blogs but we're not taking a chance. It's belt and suspenders around here .... as well as the requisite tin foil hat of course. So as you may know we've plunged deeper into the morass of social media and now have our very own Facebook page. If you're on FB visit our page and "like" us if so inclined. You'll find a feed of our last ten blog posts under the 'Notes' 'Blog' tab on the FB page. You can subscribe to a news feed of our Notes 'Folllow' our blog or subscribe to a news feed directly from this blog if you like .... and really who wouldn't? Cutting edge EAPA news delivered with razor sharp prose and just a touch of whimsy. Doesn't get better than that kids.

Andre Gallant presentation a success

We think it's safe to say the André Gallant presentation was a success with over seventy appreciative guests in attendance. Andre's enthusiasm for the art of photography was very evident and extremely inspiring. Andre shared technique, tales of his travels and many wonderful images. Eleven lucky people attended a two day workshop with André on the weekend. We look forward to hearing from them at a meeting later in the year.

Old "News and Events" posts from the website have been moved to this blog. You can find them in the Blog Archive in the sidebar ... automatically sorted by year and month. We'll be adding labels to some posts, which will show up under Catagories in the sidebar, as another way to find information. You can also use the Search This Blog widget to search by keyword. Joe Furgal Memorial

Sadly we lost popular EAPA member Joe Furgal on January 19 of this year. In Joe's memory the EAPA will be displaying a framed print (11x14 inch in a 16x20 Frame) every month starting this July in the 5th floor south sitting room at the Palliative Care unit at the Garden Street site of the BGH. This is open to all EAPA members who wish to take part. The photo will be changed on the first of each month. Thanks to the many members who have signed up already. A photo of Joe's is also on display in the unit.

Catching Up: PS Corner, Joe Shipton Award, etc.

It's been awhile since we've made any new posts. Our apologies for that ... if anyone noticed ☺. We'll try to catch up over the next little while. First off thanks to Jennifer for the PS workshop on Dec. 2.  She covered a lot of ground in limited time. She followed up with an update to PS Corner - a comprehensive overview of the basics of working with Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements.  A good job and a welcome resource. Next an apology for the Christmas party map error (you'd think Elaine would have caught that ☺) Last but certainly not least: Congratulations to Ron Purser on winning the Joe Shipton Trophy for 2009. Well deserved!
